Why does it feel so weird when you call someone famous by their first name instead of their whole name?

I said ‘Ben’ instead of ‘Benedict Cumberbatch’ because I was feeling lazy and my mother looked at me as if I was having sex with him.

Benedict Cumberbatch is in some Agatha Christie thing mother is watching. I was sitting there in awe as I usually am at him, now she thinks I ‘fancy’ him. I don’t find him overly attractive, I just find him ridiculously fascinating. There is a difference.
